Jonathan Heller is an actor, singer, and dancer based in New York City. He holds his B.M. in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and his M.M. in Vocal Performance (Musical Theatre Concentration) from NYU Steinhardt. After graduate school, Jonathan fell in love with the Meisner technique and trained intensively for two years with his late teacher, Ted Wold, and then with Jillian Paige of Meisner in Music. Jonathan is a two time finalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition, which recognizes talented singer/actors with a pronounced ability to succeed in a variety of repertoire, ranging from opera, to the songs of Kurt Weill, to musical theatre.
This summer, Jonathan will be playing Giorgio Moroder and understudying Neil Bogart in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. Favorite credits include being a Vacation Swing for the 2022-2023 North American Tour of Cats, Fred Casely in Chicago at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Prince Christopher in Cinderella and Barnaby Tucker in Hello, Dolly! at Ohio Light Opera, and Frid in A Little Night Music at the College Light Opera Company.
Jonathan has also performed on notable concert stages such as The Town Hall, Feinstein's/54 Below, and at the Theatre Orb in Tokyo, Japan. While most of his work has been in golden age musicals, he is also a huge fan of contemporary musicals by composers like Jason Robert Brown, Jeanine Tesori, and Ahrens and Flaherty. In his free time he can be found cooking, at the Lincoln Square AMC, or taking long walks up and down riverside park while listening to his favorite podcast, Las Culturistas, or to music by Beyoncé, Sara Bareilles, Lake Street Dive, and Chappell Roan.
